No matter how big or small your home is, it’s the most comforting place where you spend a lot of quality time alone or with your family members. So, it’s natural to invest in a good home décor style to brighten up your home.

There are no rights or wrongs in home decors; it all depends on your style and preferences. Now, I’m not here to give you tips and tricks on design elements that can suit your needs and tastes. In fact, when it comes to interior design, I’d say I have the eye of a dead rat and I’d wager even he could have better taste than me. I don’t know anything about which colors go together; I have no taste in curtains, wallpapers, carpets and choosing the right soft furnishings is an even bigger challenge for me. So, to sum it up, I’m your hapless moron when it comes to home décor. But, if it’s about investing in a Christian-themed décor, you can count me in.

I was raised in a Christian home. I can tell you that back then interior decorating wasn’t really our strength because the budget was always tight and when it came to designing elements, my parents were never on the same side. During these moments of desperation, our belief came to our rescue. We had been unaware until that moment; until we found out that there is something called Christian-themed home décor.

As believers and followers of Christ, we all know the importance of being surrounded by the presence of God. Glorifying Him in everything we do or say and seeking Him every time in everything is the only way that can keep us standing strong in our faith. And, who says we can’t do that in a literal sense? Who says we can’t include our home and surround ourselves with Christ?

Consult God and Pray

Consult God and PrayYou are trying to set up a faith-based home décor; that’s a very good thing. But, remember, you need to consult God first. Remember James 4:14-15:

“…you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”

It’s important for you to pray and present this home décor project to God. Because only the Holy Spirit can be your true source of guidance – even when it comes to decorating your home.

Start With the Aim of Creating an Environment to Serve God

Start With the Aim of Creating an Environment to Serve God

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. Talk about these commandments when you sit at home, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”

– From Deuteronomy 6: 5-9

It turns out that today there is a whole new wave of Christian-themed home decors available. It’s surprising how even non-believers are opting for this style. However, don’t create this Christ-inspired environment only to be a part of this trend, rather do it so as you can seek His kingdom first and serve the Lord in your house in all faithfulness.

Avoid Showing Off

Avoid Showing OffIt’s tempting to purchase or display religious things in order to impress friends, family members and neighbors, but your intentions and motivations are then corrupted. When you’ll try to keep up with the Joneses, you’ll be elevating your standard of home décor, but not your relationship with God. Remember 1Timothy 2:9-10 and Matthew 23.

Keep It Simple and Humble

Keep It Simple and HumbleYou don’t need enormous wall tapestries, expensive divine ornaments, futuristic hologram lights and cross-shaped lanterns and chandeliers to express your devotion to God.

If you want to create a Christian interior, invest in simple things and use these things and your space to minister God’s word.
